Under the visionary leadership of Hon'ble Shri Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva, Chief Justice, High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Patron-in-Chief, MP State Legal Services Authority, and under the able guidance of Hon'ble Shri Justice Vivek Rusia, Administrative Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh and Executive Chairman, MP State Legal Services Authority, “Mega Legal Outreach & Awareness Camps” were successfully organized across all 51 districts of the State of Madhya Pradesh from 26th March 2026 to 29th March 2026.
The initiative was undertaken with the objective of sensitizing the general public, particularly the marginalized and weaker sections of society, about their legal rights, entitlements under various laws, and the availability of free legal services. The campaign also focused on creating awareness regarding various schemes of the National Legal Services Authority and the welfare schemes of the state government, including those relating to unorganized workers, victims of trafficking, women and children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities, along with promotion of mediation and community mediation as effective tools for amicable dispute resolution.
The camps were conducted in accordance with the NALSA Legal Services Camp Module, adopting a delivery-based approach to ensure that beneficiaries were not only made aware but were also directly connected with welfare schemes and legal remedies. The programme witnessed active coordination with various State Government departments including Labour, Revenue, Women and Child Development, Social Justice, Nagar Palika, Health, Education, Rural Development, and Police, thereby ensuring a holistic and convergent outreach. Dedicated stalls were set up at camp venues for dissemination of information, on-the-spot registration, and facilitation of benefits under various schemes. Legal advice and assistance were provided through panel lawyers, while para legal volunteers played a vital role in outreach, mobilization, documentation, and beneficiary support. Suitable cases were also identified and referred for resolution through mediation and Lok Adalat mechanisms.
The campaign achieved significant outreach, covering all 51 districts and reaching a total of 4,69,275 beneficiaries during the camp period. The beneficiaries included 20,071 women, 2,426 children, 4,030 senior citizens, 1,365 persons with disabilities (Divyangjan), 1,612 unorganized workers, and 4,39,771 individuals under other categories. A total of 9,047 persons were provided with legal advice. The camps were organized at various locations including district courts, jails, old age homes, gram panchayats, schools, hospitals, shelter homes, and community halls, with special outreach to vulnerable groups such as women, children, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, unorganized workers, jail inmates, and residents of old age homes. In addition, several districts organized health check-up camps, blood donation camps, legal literacy sessions, and awareness programmes on ADR and mediation.
The Legal Aid Camp organized in District Jabalpur was graced by Hon'ble Shri Justice Vivek Rusia, Executive Chairman, MP State Legal Services Authority, who emphasized that to effectively reach the grassroots level, such camps are essential and, with the collaboration of all departments, meaningful access to justice can be ensured. The programme was conducted in the presence of Krishnamurthy Mishra, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur, along with all judicial officers of the district, Shri Raghvendra Singh, Collector, Jabalpur, Shri Ramprakash Ahirwar, Commissioner, Nagar Nigam, Jabalpur and Shri Manish Mishra, President, District Bar Association, Jabalpur.
Also present on the occasion were Ms. Suman Srivastava, Member Secretary, MP State Legal Services Authority; Shri Arvind Srivastava, Additional Secretary; Shri Aniruddha Jain, Deputy Secretary; and Ms. Shakti Verma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Jabalpur.
The successful organization of these camps reflects the strong commitment of the Madhya Pradesh State Legal Services Authority towards ensuring inclusive access to justice and strengthening last-mile delivery of legal services across the State.
